Vulcan Erin

Ever since I came upon the Erin Esurance ads, I've always been a fan of her and would check Erin's Blog from time to time.

I was quite surprised when I saw that Esurance had teamed up with Paramount for Star Trek XI, but I was disappointed with the wallpaper they made for it.

So I took matters in my own hands and made my own version of Erin's Vulcan Salute - this also allowed me to finally make a fanart of her.

The first task was to hunt the net for pictures of the STXI uniforms, and after some quick practice sketches to get the uniform details right (based on the toy pics by Playmates and Mattel, plus Movie pics) I had to think of a pose that was playful/sassy - I think it came out OK, although the hands aren't so great...

Since this is an Anime-style fan art of two properties, there are some changes. Namely - the hem of the uniform is shortened to make it more of a mini-dress; the boots normally use practical heels, but since this is Erin we're talking about, if she wears high-heeled boots while doing her spy missions, it should be good enough for an away mission; as for her hair, it's an amalgam of her normal hairstyle and the one used in the ST-Erin Wallpaper.

Image took around 10 hours to complete.  Ordinary No.1 pencil on 100 g/sm² A4 paper, inked with a 0.5 Gel Pen.  Scanned at 300 dpi, I prepped the colors before shrinking it to something viewable.

I kept the colors flat since the Erin images are done in vector based illustrartion / animation program, but I may do an Anime-style coloring at a later date.
